2006 Midwest Peace and Justice Summit
The Second Annual Midwest Peace and Justice Summit at the IUPUI (Indianapolis) campus brings together students, community activists, and concerned citizens to share ideas and work cooperatively for positive social and political change. Events include a series of workshops, lectures, art exhibits, cultural performances, and public demonstrations on the need to end the United States occupation of Iraq, as well as to promote nonviolent conflict resolution and social, economic, and environmental justice.
BPAC organizers will present two programs on Friday, April 7: “The Power of Non-Violence” and “IRAQ 2006: Ending the U.S. Occupation”. 45 other educational/ activism sessions will be offered on Friday and Saturday.
Performances by singers/ songwriters, Anne Feeney and Dave Lippman will be Saturday evening.
The Plowshares Keynote Address by Colonel Ann Wright will begin at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Colonel Wright is one of several high-ranking State Department officials who resigned in protest of the Iraq war.
There is no charge for attending the summit. However, a donation of $15 is suggested to help cover the costs of the event but, donations in any amount will be welcomed. (Please make checks payable to IUPUI Student Advocates for Global Equality).
A light breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday will be provided for free to all attendees. Street parking near the event site is very limited.
Campus parking permits will be available for $6.00 at the on-site registration desk.
