BPAC Accomplishments

August 6: Three speakers participated in the rally to remember the tragedy
of Hiroshima/Nagasaki. Don Lichtenberg, of the IUB Department of Physics
spoke about the terror of nuclear war. David Keppel addressed the Bush
Administration's frightening nuclear policy. Cindy Hoffman talked about
the tragedy of depleted uranium weapon use by the US in the Gulf War,
in Afghanistan, the Balkans, and in test sites in the US and Japan.
August 2: Huge success! Last night's benefit for the Hoosier delegation
to Israel and Palestine was a huge success! About 180 people attended
and ticket sales at the door raised over $1300 for the group. Former
Congressman Andy Jacobs was a surprise
guest
and
spoke
eloquently
about
the importance
of the delegation's witness.
July 19-22. BPAC
members Bret Eartheart and Gretchen Clearwater attend the national
meeting of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation of Palestine
in Washington.
July: BPAC presents petition to Congressman Baron Hill calling for revelation
of Bush administration intelligence (or lack thereof) about WMD's
in Iraq.

in Iraq was presented to Congressman Baron
Hill in Jeffersonville by Timothy Baer and Ben McClelland. The petition
included 1,396 signatures, collected over a 12-day period. Reception
was positive! Mr. Hill's
interest seems genuine, and his commitment
to co-sponsor
HR 2625 is a step in the right direction. The process clearly is a demonstration
of people-power at work.

attend MoveOn Global Candlelight Vigil at Bloomington Town Square
February 13: Fundraiser
for Iraqi Children at Buskirk-Chumley raises funds
July 4th: Patriots for Peace March in Bloomington Parade
Carrying peace doves,
a banner reading "Walk the Path of Peace", and
sign saying "Patriot for Peace" over 20 BPAC members and friends
marched in the Bloomington Fourth of July Parade. Warm applause greeted them
on each street of the route.
January : In support of the worldwide...over 500 Bloomington locals
turn out for peace march and rally.
December
20th: BPAC member Bret Eartheart leaves for Palestine & Iraq
Bret Eartheart joined
internatinal peacemakers from International Solidarity Movement and Christian
Peacemaker Teams in Hebron on the 20th. He later linked up with a Voices
in the Wilderness Peace Team to travel to Iraq on January 6th. You can

10th March & Rally a great success!
Organized by the IUB
Progressive Faculty Coalition and co-sponsored by many other groups,
including BPAC, in recognition of International Human Rights Day, more
than 100 people marched for peace Tuesday evening, showing their opposition
to the impending
U.S. war on Iraq. Speakers included Professor Robert Ivy and
Reverend Bill Breeden, of the Unitarian
Universalist Church of Bloomington. The event was covered by WFIU
Radio and the Herald Times.
