BPAC Accomplishments
Last updated: August 4,2003

August 6: Three speakers participated in the rally to remember the tragedy of Hiroshima/Nagasaki. Don Lichtenberg, of the IUB Department of Physics spoke about the terror of nuclear war. David Keppel addressed the Bush Administration's frightening nuclear policy. Cindy Hoffman talked about the tragedy of depleted uranium weapon use by the US in the Gulf War, in Afghanistan, the Balkans, and in test sites in the US and Japan.

August 2: Huge success! Last night's benefit for the Hoosier delegation to Israel and Palestine was a huge success! About 180 people attended and ticket sales at the door raised over $1300 for the group. Former Congressman Andy Jacobs was a surprise guest and spoke eloquently about the importance of the delegation's witness.

July 19-22. BPAC members Bret Eartheart and Gretchen Clearwater attend the national meeting of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation of Palestine in Washington.

July: BPAC presents petition to Congressman Baron Hill calling for revelation of Bush administration intelligence (or lack thereof) about WMD's in Iraq.

July 14: The petition calling for revelation of Bush administration intelligence (or lack thereof) about WMD's in Iraq was presented to Congressman Baron Hill in Jeffersonville by Timothy Baer and Ben McClelland. The petition included 1,396 signatures, collected over a 12-day period. Reception was positive! Mr. Hill's interest seems genuine, and his commitment to co-sponsor HR 2625 is a step in the right direction. The process clearly is a demonstration of people-power at work.
